Job summary

Sharp Manufacturing Company Of America in Memphis, TN, is seeking a skilled machinist to fabricate metal parts from drawings and CAD data, using lathes, mills, and CNC equipment. The role requires adherence to safety and quality standards and the ability to read blueprints.

You will work under general supervision, operate diverse equipment, and contribute to tooling and die projects, with opportunities for overtime and professional development in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Accredited Journeyman's Apprenticeship or 6 years experience in machine tooling or tool and die making.
• Ability to fabricate parts from blueprints or CAD drawings following instructions.
• Operate and maintain lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinders.
• Read precision measurements and ensure quality parts.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks which requires a thorough knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
• Work from CAD data, engineering drawing, rough sketches, manuals or verbal instructions.
• Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, vertical end mill, lathe, band saw, wire welder, arc welder, gas welder, cutting torch, surface grinder and CNC equipment.
• Maintain work area and operate equipment according to equipment specification so as to ensure quality parts and safe operation.
• Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc..
• Follow machine safety procedures as applicable such as rigging and lockout/ tagout.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to operate and maintain all machine shop equipment including but not limited to lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders.
• Arch welder and TIG welder.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift heavy parts or equipment up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.
• Able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts safely. Able to move furniture, desks, and equipment.
• Job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling into tight spaces.
• Environment is not air conditioned.

Compensation for this position

The starting pay rate for this position is $24.33/hour and at one year $25.95/hour. The listed contractual rates excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits.
