What you can expect to work on…

As a machinist, you have a key role in the creation of equipment related to manufacturing medical isotopes. You’ll have a wide range of tasks that involve operating machine tools to create precision parts from metal or other materials.

  • Perform diverse machinist tasks, applying procedures and independent judgment to meet specific work requirements
  • Calculate dimensions, lay out work, and set up machine tools using applied mathematics
  • Leverage expertise in machining various metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and steel
  • Operate CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam and utilize precision tools like micrometers, calipers, and height gauges
  • Write and interpret “G” code for machining operations
  • Maintaining tools and machines
  • Troubleshooting machining process
  • Ensure quality and safety of equipment and processes
  • Basic computer skills & math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals
  • Skilled mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with the following:
    • CNC Mill or CNC Lathe
    • Mastercam or equivalent CAD/CAM software
    • Proficient use of micrometers, calipers, and height gauges
    • Bridgeport, manual lathe, and drill press
    • Ability to write/read “G” code

Great to have…
  • 8+ years’ experience with increasing complexity of machining work
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures, and angle grinders
  • Knowledge of raw materials, quality control, cost optimization, and manufacturing techniques to enhance production efficiency
  • Experience operating both CNC Mill and CNC Lathe machines
  • Experience with metal fabrication
Other things to note…
  • Full-time position
  • The company’s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
  • This position will have regular working hours Monday - Friday within the standard operating hours
  • There is an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirements as needed
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
