Role Description The Mill Machinist role at LOWRANCE MACHINE is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Houston, TX. The machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring milling machines to produce precision components according to prints and specifications. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tools and fixtures, adjusting machine settings, and performing routine measurements to ensure parts meet quality standards. The role involves performing basic preventive maintenance on equipment, reporting issues to supervisors, and collaborating with team members to maintain safe, efficient workflows. The Mill Machinist is also expected to follow company procedures, participate in training, and support continuous improvement initiatives in the shop.

In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds; however, lifting aids are available and should be used for any object exceeding 30 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp, squeeze, reach (both out and overhead), twist and use a computer keyboard and mouse.Walking and sitting is minimal.Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read fine print or marks as seen on engineering drawings, parts, cutting tools and measurement devices.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving machinery such as lathes, mills, forklifts, cranes, etc.Noise level is moderate, but continuous.Safety glasses and steel toed shoes are required at all times.Gloves are recommended while handling parts.
