Work Environment: Monday – Friday onsite

Rate of Pay: $30-$35/hour based on experience

Work Schedule: 2ND SHIFT - Hours: 1:30pm - 10:00pm, Shift Differential: $2.50/hour

Job Summary

The CNC Machinist II produces machined parts by setting up and operating CNC machines, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Collaborates with other technicians under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various machines and tools on a 3 or 4 axis CNC.
• Interpret work orders to select proper work center, tooling, and programs.
• Monitor machining operations to detect issues like dull tools or vibrations.
• Install proper tooling, such as jaws, chucks, fixtures, and cutting tools.
• Use gauges and precision instruments to inspect parts and make adjustments.
• Clean and remove burrs post-operation.
• Assist in process improvements with manufacturing engineering.
• Train other employees on machine tools and operations.
• Document and communicate shift activities and issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking.
• Strong math skills for measurements and calculations.
• Ability to set up and operate machine tools to produce parts from blueprints.
• Understanding of blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments.
• Good attendance and safe work record.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years manual machining experience with CNC lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
• Proficiency with measuring equipment and computers.
• Experience with stainless steel or duplex stainless steel preferred.
• Experience with CNC horizontal mills and lean manufacturing preferred.
