ITW’s Sexton facility in Decatur, AL is seeking an experienced Machinist to support mechanical needs through machining, repair, and maintenance. You will read blueprints, fabricate parts, and operate manual equipment with minimal supervision while upholding 5-S standards and safety.

The role emphasizes productivity and reliability in a fast-paced plant environment. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of manual machining experience, an apprenticeship or related degree is a plus, and a proven ability

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manual machining and maintenance experience.
• Machinist apprenticeship or related degree is a plus.
• Experience fabricating or repairing parts from blueprints or existing components.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical repair skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to safely lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.

Job Description

The Machinist is responsible for supporting the plant’s mechanical needs through machining, equipment repair, and maintenance activities.This role requires the ability to build and repair parts from blueprints or existing components,operatemanual machining equipment, and complete assigned projects with minimal supervision. Machinists are also responsible formaintainingclean and organized work areas, supporting 5-S initiatives,assistingother departments as needed, and following all housekeeping and safety requirements to helpmaintainproductivity and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

• Complete assigned maintenance, machining, repair, and special project tasks.Clean andmaintainmachines, tools, and work areas while following 5-S standards.

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery to support plant operations.

• Read and interpret blueprints to fabricate, repair, or recreate parts and components.

• Create sketches of existing parts for engineering and blueprint development as needed.

• Safelyoperatemanual lathes, presses, and related machining equipment.

• Lift and move tooling, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Work independently with minimal supervision whilemaintainingquality and safety standards.

• Assistother departments and production areas to improve productivity andmaintaincustomer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of manual machining and maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentrequired.

• Completion of machinist apprenticeship or related degree a plus

• Experience fabricating or repairing parts from blueprints and existing components

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical repair skillsrequired.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to safely lift and move materials and tooling up to 50 pounds.
