Job summary

voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak is seeking a Machinist for our Cheyenne, Wyoming facility. The role operates jib cranes, manual mills, and Grade B machines, reading production schedules and blueprints, with an emphasis on safety and quality.

You will read work orders, ITPs, and rulers, perform inspections, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement while adhering to Nortrak’s procedures. 1–2 years of relevant experience and HS diploma preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED preferred.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Forklift and Crane certification preferred.
• Knowledge of G and M codes.
• Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blue prints, rulers and tape measures.
• Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate jib, overhead crane, manual mills and Grade B machines.
• Read and follow the production schedule.
• Able to work with little supervision.
• Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.

We are currently looking for a Machinist to join our organization in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Purpose of Position

The Machinist is responsible to operate machines and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the proper cleaning and preparation of castings as stated in the OMS/process sheet; efficiently inspect finished work.

Task and Responsibilities

• Safely operate jib, overhead crane, manual mills and Grade B machines
• Read and follow the production schedule
• Able to work with little supervision
• Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
• Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Hearing abilities related to job assigned.

Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
