The Role

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to support our fluid dispensing equipment business. This facility designs and builds systems used to apply adhesives and sealants in industrial and construction markets.

This position will set up and operate equipment and make sure parts meet quality standards and design specifications. The Machinist will also support equipment builds and work with engineering and production teams. This individual will use machining and mechanical assembly skills to produce high-quality parts while supporting continuous improvement and safe manufacturing practices.

This is an on-site role in Brooklyn Center, MN. There is no relocation for this role, if you do not live in the Brooklyn Center, MN area, you will not be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan machining by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, etc.
  • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt of stock.
  • Set up mills and lathes.
  • Install and adjust three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, etc.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
  • Follow quality procedures and processes by taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Support and follow all safety procedures and complete all required safety training.
  • Identify and support improvement opportunities for processes to support company objectives and customer expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, kneel regularly.
Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; CNC certification or degree strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Machinist or similar role required.
  • Experience setting up and running a CNC machine required.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T required.
  • Conceptual skills and effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Can read blueprints and use rulers, calipers & other measuring tools required.
  • Familiarity with Mazak controls and Hurco controls required.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers required.
  • Knowledge of Acc-urite controllers preferred.
