The role requires reading blueprints, GD&T, and documentation with strict quality standards; shift work includes First, Second, and Third shifts.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, machining certification preferred, and experience with CNC setup and tool changes.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T with tight tolerances; basic troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss-style machines.
  • Manufacture medical-device components per drawings and specs.
  • Read drawings, GD&T, and inspection requirements; adjust tooling and offsets.
  • Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, and CMMs; document results.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area; follow GMP and ISO 13485 requirements.

Medical Device Machinist – All Shifts

Job Type: Full-Time
Shifts Available: First, Second, and Third Shift
Pay: Competitive, based on experience; shift differential may apply

Position Summary

We are seeking skilled Medical Device Machinists to produce high-precision components in a quality-controlled manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and inspecting CNC-machined parts while meeting strict dimensional, quality, documentation, and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, Swiss-style machines, or other precision machining equipment.
  • Manufacture medical-device components according to blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, production routers, and inspection requirements.
  • Select and install proper tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters.
  • Perform tool changes and make offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Follow documented procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and applicable ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Identify nonconforming parts and promptly report quality or equipment concerns.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas according to safety, cleanliness, and preventive-maintenance standards.
  • Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Production team members to resolve machining issues.
  • Consistently meet expectations for safety, quality, attendance, and productivity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical-school training or machining certification preferred.
  • Previous CNC machining experience in medical-device, aerospace, automotive, or another precision-manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with CNC setup, offsets, tool changes, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T and tight tolerances.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and accurately complete documentation.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic computer and math skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, cobalt chrome, PEEK, aluminum, or similar materials.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or comparable CNC controls.
  • Experience operating Swiss-style CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA-regulated manufacturing, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience using optical comparators, CMMs, height gauges, or vision-inspection systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments safely.
  • Ability to work around machinery, cutting fluids, and standard manufacturing noise.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Available Shifts

  • First Shift: Day shift
  • Second Shift: Afternoon/evening shift
  • Third Shift: Overnight shift
