Qualifications

• Student must be currently enrolled and pursuing the Machining field of study.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Must be at least 17 years old.

Responsibilities

• Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to produce metal parts.
• Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications.
• Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
• Load and unload parts on machine center.
• Monitor and control feed rate and speed.
• Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
• Adjust cutting speed to compensate for vibrations.
• Monitor accuracy of cuts.
• Replace dull cutting tools.
• Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
• Produce large quantities of parts.
• Wrote basic programs.
• Modify programs in response to problems.
