Jobtailor in Wisconsin is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist Lead to supervise production, mentor team members, and ensure safety and quality on the shop floor.

You will set up, program, and operate Mazatrol/CNC machines, read blueprints, use G-code, and coordinate with SAP and maintenance to meet schedule and continuous improvement goals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or technical degree preferred.
  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in CNC machining required.
  • Previous leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • SAP or other ERP system experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Knowledge of SAP Applications and MS Office Suite
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools
  • Inventory control and material handling
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to use forklift or crane to store and retrieve fixtures and essential equipment

Responsibilities

  • Monitor team safety, punctuality, and execution of roles.
  • Communicate shift updates, production status, and issues to management and incoming shifts.
  • Troubleshoot and escalation issues to the Machining Supervisor.
  • Ensure scheduled workloads are completed on time according to directives, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Lead by example and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Train and mentor team members to improve performance and technical skills.
  • Participate in annual reviews of assigned staff.
  • Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams for seamless process flows.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Use SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and other applicable software.
  • Retrieve CNC programs and load machines.
  • Set up, load, and operate CNC machines to produce parts from prints.
  • Edit G-code and manually program using Mazatrol Control or other machine controls.
  • Set up fixtures and machine setups.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process quality inspections.
  • Set up cutters and adjust height and length.
  • Read drawings and prints for operations, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Meet precise tolerances and finishing requirements.
  • Finish and inspect parts using hand tools.
  • Use micrometers and calipers to verify specifications.
  • Perform machine maintenance including oiling, greasing, cleaning, and 5S.
  • Operate department machines as needed.
