Job summary

Krones Inc. seeks a 2nd shift Team Leader for the Machining Department to maintain smooth cross-shift flow, uphold safety and quality, and meet production goals. You’ll lead, train, and mentor operators while coordinating with internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities include ensuring on-time workloads, supervising safety, and using SAP and MS Office to track progress. Prior CNC leadership and blueprint-reading skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate/technical degree preferred.
  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in CNC machining.
  • Previous leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP Applications and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor team members for safety, punctuality, and role execution.
  • Communicate shift updates and production status to management and next shifts.
  • Troubleshoot issues and escalate to Machining Supervisor as needed.
  • Ensure workloads are completed on time following SOPs and work instructions.
  • Lead by example and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Train and mentor team members to improve performance and skills.
  • Participate in annual staff reviews and support corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless processes.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers as needed; utilize SAP and MS Office.
  • Operate and set up CNC machines, read drawings, and inspect first piece and in-process quality.

Job Summary:

As a 2ndshift Team Leader in our Machining Department, you’ll be a key player in maintaining a smooth flow between shifts, fostering a culture of teamwork, and ensuring that production goals are completed on a timely basis without compromising safety or quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor team members to ensure they are being safe, punctual, and executing their assigned job role(s)
  • Communicate shift updates, production status, and any issues to management and/or incoming shifts
  • Troubleshoot issues and escalation issues to the Machining Supervisor as needed
  • Assure that scheduled workloads are completed on a timely basis following all directives, standard operating procedures, and work instructions
  • Lead by example and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Train and mentor team members, helping them achieve expected job performance, develop technical skills, and grow in their roles
  • Participate in the annual review process of assigned staff
  • Help conduct corrective action training to overcome known errors as needed
  • Communicate with internal cross functional teams to ensure seamless process flows
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed
  • Utilize SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and other applicable software
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Machining Duties:

Retrieve CNC programs and load to the machine

Set up, load, and operate CNC machines to produce parts per prints

Edit in G-code and manually program using Mazatrol Control or other applicable machine control

Set up fixtures and come up with setups on the machine

Perform first piece and in-process quality inspections

Set up cutters in holders and adjust height and length

Read drawings/prints to identify operations, specification, and tolerances

Meet precise tolerances and finishing requirements

Use various hand tools to finish parts and check

Use measuring devices like micrometers and calipersto ensure specifications are met

Perform operator maintenance tasks like oiling, greasing, and cleaning the machine (5S)

Use forklift or crane to store and retrieve fixtures and other essential equipment

Operate various machines in the department as needed

Skills:
  • SAP or other ERP system experience, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools
  • Strong skills in leadership, communication, collaboration, and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure
  • Inventory control and material handling
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
