Job summary

Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a Machine Operator to effectively operate and maintain production machines with high attention to quality and safety. The role involves reading blueprints, performing measurements, and coordinating with maintenance to minimize downtime.

Candidates should have at least one year of experience with automatic machines, basic math skills, and a willingness to obtain lock-out tag-out certification within one year.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience operating automatic machines.
  • Able to read blueprints and understand linear and diametrical dimensioning.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to use measuring gauges accurately.
  • Able to read procedures and work instructions.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Lock-out tag-out certification within 1 year.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb.
  • No attendance policy violations in past 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain three machines at 80% productivity in one class (Screw/Rotary/Davenport).
  • Change tooling and perform quick changeovers on other classes.
  • Take independent measurements with micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines.
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and assist with repairs.
  • Record shifts, cycle counts, and maintain logs.
  • Operate crane when required.
  • Preset basic tooling for production machines.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.

Job description

  • Effectively operate and maintain three machines in any one class of machines (Screw, Rotary, or Davenport) at 80% productivity
  • Make tool changes and adjustments on machines in any one class of machines (Screw, Rotary, or Davenport) and perform quick change tooling on machines in another class
  • Complete independent measurements using micrometers, comparators and calipers
  • Complete regular preventative maintenance on machines, including changing collets, checking stops and setting feed fingers
  • Perform basic troubleshooting when machine problems occur as well as assist with identifying needed repairs
  • Pull shift tickets and assist with cycle counts
  • Responsible for crane operation
  • Preset basic tooling for production machines
  • Maintain accurate record keeping
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area and tool zone
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating and maintaining automatic machines
  • Must be able to read and understand blue prints, as well as linear and diametrical dimensioning
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude as well as the ability to use measuring instruments and gauges accurately
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, work instructions and other production documentation
  • Must have basic math skills (adding, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Must become lock-out tag-out certified within 1 year
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lb load
  • No write-ups as outlined in the Job Opportunity policy
  • Can not have less than 17 hours of unpaid time under the attendance policy
  • No disciplinary write-ups in the last 6 months
  • Demonstrated positive work history through performance reviews
  • Must be able to pass applicable assessments

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $52,050 USD - $59,488 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
