Job summary

Lansing Community College’s Technology Careers Division seeks a part-time Lab Assistant for the Machining Lab to assist with instruction and guide student projects in a hands-on environment. The role supports the instructor, coordinates lab readiness, and helps ensure safety and proper PPE while maintaining a collaborative, inclusive learning space at LCC West Campus.

Hours can include daytime, evenings, or weekends; pay is based on the PT salary schedule and qualifications, with on-campus

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in manufacturing field or HS diploma with related experience.
• Basic machining and fabrication skills.
• Familiarity with CAD software and reading engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with non-structural welding and operation of industrial machinery.

Responsibilities

• Assist with lab instruction and student projects.
• Ensure lab is prepared with tools and materials.
• Maintain inventory and maintenance of lab supplies.
• Promote shop safety and proper PPE usage.
