Job summary

JR Automation, A Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Machine & Fabrication Technical Buyer to support sourcing decisions on complex automation projects in Nashville, TN or Holland, MI. The role leverages machining and fabrication expertise to guide part design, supplier evaluation, and make-or-buy decisions.

You'll collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain, build supplier relationships, and travel up to 10% to supplier sites and JR facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred but not required.
• Strong machining and fabrication process knowledge (machining, welding, sheet metal, structural fabrication).
• Minimum 3+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, or project-based environments, supporting engineered-to-order systems or automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical SME in machining and fabrication, guiding design, methods, supplier capabilities, and manufacturing decisions.
• Evaluate and improve supplier base based on technical capability, capacity, quality, and alignment to needs.
• Assist with make-vs-buy decisions using internal capabilities and external suppliers for optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align timelines, constraints, and technical requirements for components.
• Apply manufacturing expertise to project bills of material and ensure sourcing aligns with supply chain strategy.
