Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a Machinist to join our team and manufacture precision aerospace components using CNC and manual machining equipment. You will read blueprints and technical drawings, set up fixtures, and ensure parts meet exact specifications.

This role offers a 2nd shift with a $1–$3 per hour shift differential and a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Prior machining experience is preferred; strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to quality are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Basic to intermediate math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and think critically.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines, including grinding and milling, to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Set up fixtures, tooling, and materials on machining equipment.
  • Monitor operations and adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling as needed.
  • Perform dimensional inspections with micrometers, calipers, and other gauges.
  • Maintain tolerances and quality throughout production.
  • Replace cutting tools and perform routine maintenance.
  • Complete inspection and production documentation accurately.
  • Operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment safely.
  • Follow safety, quality, and process procedures; keep area clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with teammates and supervisors to meet production and quality goals.

Job Summary

We're looking for a Machinist to join our team and help manufacture precision aerospace components using CNC and manual machining equipment. Shift: This role is available on our 2nd shift (evening shift), with typical hours of 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM. Shift Differential: Employees on 2nd shift are eligible for a shift differential of $1-$3 per hour, based on the assigned workdays. Sign On Bonus: $1,000

What You'll Be Doing
  • Operate CNC machine tools, including grinding and milling equipment, to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Set up and secure fixtures, tooling, accessories, and materials on machining equipment.
  • Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling as required.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and pi tapes.
  • Maintain close tolerances and high-quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Replace cutting tools and perform routine equipment maintenance to ensure product conformity and machine performance.
  • Complete inspection and production documentation accurately.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with teammates and supervisors to achieve production, quality, and continuous improvement goals.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Basic to intermediate math skills, including measurements and calculations.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with grinding operations and advanced CNC machining processes.
  • Previous experience operating overhead cranes.
  • Vocational, trade school, or technical training in machining or manufacturing technology.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, and industrial materials.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely lift and move materials with or without assistance.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work safely around machining equipment and overhead lifting devices.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
