Job summary

Rotating Machinery Services, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Shop Helper to support daily shop operations and assist with mechanical tasks. Responsibilities include cleaning, organizing, and preparing parts, as well as painting and handling components per RMS specifications.

The role requires at least two years in an industrial shop, basic mechanical abilities, and a valid driver’s license. Physical lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• At least two years in an industrial or machine shop setting preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience with component assembly and dynamic balancing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and follow safety policies.
• Understand and comply with procedures and work instructions.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Assist with disassembly of rotating equipment.
• Steam and solvent clean parts.
• Prep and paint parts with approved coatings after training.
• Prepare shop equipment for painting (balance machines, lathes, mills).
• Assist machinist with setups or moving parts between machines.
• Aid with logistics and packaging for shipment.
• Operate a forklift (training provided) and support general shop tasks.
