Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Territory Manager to represent our machinery division across Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and parts of Indiana and Michigan. In this role, you will develop business by selling industrial woodworking machinery to manufacturers, production shops, and other professional customers.

While you’ll manage your day-to-day activity independently, you are not on an island. You are a critical part of the Akins/Würth Baer team—supported by inside sales, quoting, logistics, billing, and a leadership group that values responsiveness and shared success. You’ll have autonomy, but also a support structure built to win.

Responsibilities

  • Treat your territory as if it is your own business. Develop and grow sales through prospecting, account management, and strategic customer engagement.
  • Serve and expand existing customer accounts while identifying new opportunities for machinery sales.
  • Understand customer workflows and recommend machinery solutions that improve efficiency and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with inside support staff and Sales Managers to ensure quotes, logistics, and post-sale support meet customer needs.
  • Stay knowledgeable on current woodworking machinery lines and industry innovations.
  • Actively utilize Salesforce CRM to manage your sales pipeline and communication records.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ success in outside sales
  • Proven experience selling machinery of some kind is required (see wurthbaermachinery.com for examples) – Note: It does not specifically have to be woodworking machinery, although this would be a plus!
  • Strong familiarity with Excel and data management
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong follow-through and customer service orientation
  • Highly organized, capable of multitasking, and comfortable working remotely
  • Professional, polished demeanor with a growth mindset
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned region (road warrior mentality preferred)

Location Note

Due to the geographic reach of this territory, a centrally located candidate familiar with the region (IL/WI/MN/IN/MI) will have a strategic advantage. Regular travel is required.
