Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a skilled technician to repair and maintain mechanical and hydraulic components across metal fabricating tools and material handling systems.

You will read blueprints and ISO drawings, perform precision measurements, fit bearings, align gears, and assist with dismantling and installation.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and 3+ years of related experience, be willing to work varied shifts, and operate mobile equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 3+ years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
  • Willing to work shift work and various shifts.
  • Prefer knowledge of Lathe, Mills, Cut Off Saw and Drill Press equipment.
  • Machining, Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors.
  • Uses precision leveling and alignment tools to measure angles, material thickness and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Fits bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to drawings.
  • Assist with dismantling of machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.
  • Fabricates and installs parts on equipment by measuring, cutting, and drilling.
  • Assist with unloading, inspecting, moving and setting of equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
  • Uses rigging and hoisting devices to move equipment/materials into place.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pumps.
  • Experience with lathes, mills, and broaching, general shop equipment and tools.
  • Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
  • Able to align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch
  • Operate mobile equipment fork trucks and man-lifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including but not limited to: conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors etc.
  • Uses precision leveling and alignment tools in order to measure angles, material thickness and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Fits bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings
  • Assist with the dismantling of machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
  • Fabricates and installs parts on equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, and drilling
  • Assist with the unloading, inspecting, moving and setting of equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Uses rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls and hand winches to move equipment / materials into place
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps
  • Experience with lathes, mills, and broaching, general shop equipment (drill presses. vertical/horizontal band saws, hydraulic presses) measuring and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
  • Able to align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch
  • Operate mobile equipment fork trucks and man-lifts
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This job reports directly to a supervisor.

Evaluation Required
  • Written Machine Tool Repair Skill Assessment (40 questions) 80% is passing.
  • Practical Exam upon successful completion of the Written Skills Assessment.

High school diploma or GED and 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
