Job summary

Altium Packaging in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Machine Technician to operate blow-mold, grinders, trimmer machines and conveyors on a 12-hour C shift (7a–7:30p). The base pay rate is $24.50 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental and vision.

You will troubleshoot process issues, perform preventive maintenance, read blueprints and support GMP adherence. The role requires 3+ years of machine operation experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to stand for long periods

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of machine operator experience.
• 3+ years blow mold operation experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate blow-mold, grinders, trimmer machines and conveyors with competency.
• Troubleshoot process issues and perform minor maintenance to ensure continuous operation.
• Follow GMP and quality control procedures throughout production.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and mechanical changes (color changes, necks, blow pins).
• Mentor entry-level Machine Operators and train on site as needed.

Altium Packaging is one of the largest plastic container companies and suppliers of rigid plastic packaging. We specialize in customized mid- and short-run packaging solutions and serve a diverse customer base in the pharmaceutical, dairy, household chemicals, food/nutraceuticals, industrial/specialty chemicals, water, and beverage/juice segments. We are currently seeking experienced Machine Technicians in Phoenix, AZ. As a Machine Technician, you will operate blow-mold, grinders, trimmer machines and conveyor systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting process problems and performing minor maintenance to ensure continued operation of the production line. Machine Technicians are also responsible for following our company's Good Manufacturing Practices.

Responsibilities Include:

• Demonstrates mastery of entry-level Machine Operator skills and can teach Level 1 Machine Operator skills.
• Demonstrates the adherence to quality control and blow mold process procedures.
• Demonstrates mechanical abilities to troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
• Assist with preventive maintenance, mold, neck and blow pin and other mechanical changes.
• Can efficiently change colors without excessive product loss.
• Demonstrates basic Machine Operator skills by maintaining critical processing outputs such as adjusting parisons, tail adjustments, regrind levels, weights controls and other operator required adjustments.
• Run two lines consistently.
• Repair or replace pneumatic and hydraulic lines.
• Able to operate on multiple platforms, can train entry-level Machine Operators, and can shadow Machine Operators (site-specific, if applicable based on plant equipment).
• Receives instructions on specific job tasks by Lead Operator or Supervisor.
• Assistance is furnished with unusual problems, and work is reviewed for application of sound professional judgment.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years’ experience as a machine operator
• 3+ years’ blow mold machine operation required
• Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills are required
• Machine maintenance experience
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
• Ability to work overtime
• Physical stamina and strength/able to stand for long periods of time

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
