Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Machine Tech Operator for the Union City, TN plant. The role focuses on operating KP machinery, ensuring batch accuracy, loading logs, and maintaining a safe, compliant production line. You will work with QA and maintenance teams and perform daily PM tasks.

The job requires basic math skills, physical stamina, and the ability to work in cold environments, with lifting up to 50 pounds and standing long shifts. 1st shift responsibilities and strict safety policies apply.

Worker history must be documented on application or resume.****Job Summary:*** This position is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of product thru the production process and insuring proper ingredients/supplies are being used on the line.* Responsible for monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and notifying supervisor if machines should require maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.* Move empty racks into position for loading and loading logs onto racks.* Send out correct diameters of slicing logs to freezer.* Chang film as needed.* Identify and stripping out defective logs.* Drain water from bottom of KP and inspecting equipment.* Set up and breaking down grinders.* Record condition of grinder plates on grinder inspection sheets and turning in to lead/supervisor.* Inform QA and Production Supervisor in the event of issues with equipment/grinder or raw materials.* Informs and assists Maintenance persons in identifying and correcting problems with machines.* Performs PM’s on equipment in assigned Department.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for setting KP machine, clamping, gather, code dating, diameter and registration. Responsible for preventative maintenance and assisting maintenance personnel in repair of KP machines, while also adhering to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies. Sending chub to chiller as well as checking weights, registration, and roll codes. Set up/tear down of KP machines for production. Changing film up to 60 lbs as needed.Responsible for strip outs and defective chubs. Responsible for draining water from bottom of KPs. Responsible for minor machine repairs when problems arrive, if possible. Informing qualified maintenance person in identifying problem with machine.
