Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Machine Software & Controls Test Engineer for the Peoria Proving Ground in Washington, IL. You will lead testing and validation of machine software and controls for Medium Track-Type Tractor platforms and next-generation technology, while ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, operate test plans, and leverage data tools to deliver actionable insights and continuous improvements in a dynamic, on-site environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience testing or validation in heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Familiarity with CAT software tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute software and controls tests for current and next generation machinery platforms.
• Collaborate with engineering, software and technology teams; develop test plans and document procedures.
• Execute checkouts and validation activities; analyze results to ensure quality.
• Troubleshoot and validate complex electrical, electronic and software systems.
• Turn raw data into insights using Excel, CANape and MS Office.
