Job description

As a Machine Shop Supervisor here at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our machining processes run efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality standards, while optimizing production schedules. You will lead a team of skilled technicians and collaborate with other departments to meet production goals and customer requirements. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining and improving our manufacturing operations to increase savings and better serve our customers.

You will report directly to our Director of Engineering and work out of our Arvada, CO location on an on-site work schedule supporting a multi-shift machine shop environment.

In this role, you will impact manufacturing performance by leading machinists, operators, planners, programmers, and support staff; partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, EH&S, Quality, and other functions; and using data to improve productivity, safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop machinists, operators, planners, programmers, and support staff while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
  • Manage machine shop operations across 3 shifts-24 hour/day machine shop, including staffing, workflow, priorities, and resource allocation for machinery, manpower, materials, and production support
  • Develop, update, and execute production schedules; assign personnel; monitor progress; revise schedules as needed; resolve production issues; and report shift production results
  • Drive on-time delivery, productivity, OEE improvement, reduced cost of poor quality, and effective management of make-to-stock and make-to-order inventory levels
  • Partner closely with EH&S to maintain a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, and sustain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes, organization standards, ISO-aligned standard work, inspection practices, and corrective actions to ensure manufactured parts meet specifications
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring process steps, control points, equipment performance, personnel effectiveness, and resource needs while facilitating corrections to process or equipment issues
  • Oversee machine maintenance, repairs, TPM activities, 6S procedures, equipment readiness, and evaluation of new equipment, technologies, and techniques
  • Monitor and control operational expenses, track budget performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support financial planning for the machine shop
  • Recruit, select, orient, train, coach, counsel, appraise, and develop employees while addressing personnel issues and supporting personal growth opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing, process improvement, standard operating procedure improvements, data collection, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration
YOU MUST HAVE
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, with hands-on knowledge of machining processes, production operations, equipment, and shop capabilities
  • 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, or supervising teams in a production, manufacturing, or machine shop environment
  • Working knowledge of machining operations, tooling, production planning, workflow optimization, maintenance coordination, and resource planning
  • Strong communication, collaboration, planning, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Commitment to safety, quality, standard work, continuous improvement, and adapting to new technologies, processes, and business priorities
  • Ability to manage costs, prioritize work, resolve operational issues, use production data and systems, and drive improvements in productivity, quality, delivery, and overall performance
  • Ability to work in both office and indoor factory environments
  • Regular sitting, standing, walking, reading, listening, and talking are required
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted
WE VALUE
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field
  • Lean Six Sigma experience, APICS certification, or demonstrated experience applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with VPP sites, EH&S programs, TPM, 6S, ISO standard work, and formal safety management practices
  • Experience managing multi-shift or 24-hour machine shop operations
  • Familiarity with various production processes, including plastic molding, tooling, assembly, and test

The salary range for this position is $70,100 - $87,500. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
