Job summary

Milacron is seeking an experienced machinist to set up and operate a range of machinery to exact blueprint specifications. You will read part drawings, perform precision measurements, and ensure fluid levels and safety compliance across the shop floor.

The role requires 1–3 years of related experience or a technical certificate. You will train others, document labor hours, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining a high standard of quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Verify correct product using job traveler.
• Set-up and operate various machinery to blueprint specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and perform preventative maintenance.
• Monitor fluid levels on equipment.
• Read part drawings with sectional views.
• Lift, position and transport work pieces with a hoist.
• Record labor hours into the E1 system.
• Work independently and train less experienced machinists.
• Maintain safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork and attendance.
• Lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
• Demonstrate flexibility in high-stress or urgent situations.
• Recommend improvements for area products and processes.
• Interact professionally with customers and employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Responsible for the set-up and operation on a variety of machinery to produce a large assortment of parts or finishes often of a complex nature. Must apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics and machining procedures.

Essential/Key Functions

• Verify correct product using job traveler.
• Set-up and operate a variety of machinery (Lathe, Mill, Saw, Core Drill, Hob) to blueprint specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and perform preventative maintenance to assure continuity of production.
• Monitor and ensure all fluid levels are maintained on all equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels and report low levels and discrepancies to supervisor.
• Must use precision measuring tools specific to job.
• Must use job specific hand tools.
• Read part drawing with sectional views.
• Lift, position and transport work piece with a hoist.
• Must accurately record labor hours into E1 system.
• Work independently; assist and train less experienced machinists.
• Maintain plant standards in areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork and attendance.
• Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
• Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.
• Recommend improvements for area product and processes.

• Seeing – visually monitor machine and product to ensure proper mechanics and quality are maintained and identify problems; specifically paying attention to detail.
• Equipment – load, unload, move, stack and stage product and materials using forklift; use of overhead crane; maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
