Accelera in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Machine Shop Lead to join our team. The role offers a starting rate of $26.00 per hour, plus a $3 premium for the 2nd shift (3:00 PM–1:30 AM).

You will oversee Makino MMC pallet pool operations, lead machining teams, and coordinate with engineering to refine processes. The candidate should have at least 5 years in a machine shop, a high school diploma, and strong skills in G-code, SAP, and tooling design.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school and a minimum of 5 years of professional machine shop experience.
• Technical certification in machining, familiarity with Makino systems, SAP proficiency, and MMC pallet pool experience are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to handle G-code programming, interpret technical drawings, and design tooling plans.
• Proven background working as a journeyman machinist in a continuous 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage Makino MMC pallet pool operations, including fixture loading, debris removal, quality inspections, and material handling to ensure consistent CNC machine performance.
• Oversee the maintenance, sharpening, and replacement of cutting tools while tracking inventory levels for each unit.
• Detect and address mechanical or tooling malfunctions by coordinating with the tool room, maintenance, engineering, or supervisors.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the machine operator team.
• Facilitate training for incoming staff and act as a supervisor substitute when necessary.
• Partner with the engineering department to refine processes and develop new components.
• Facilitate material movement throughout the facility while maintaining accurate records in SAP.
• Interpret complex technical blueprints to create effective tooling strategies.
• Execute G-code programming and resolve technical errors within CNC machining processes.
• Contribute to the success of our 24-hour production cycle by utilizing your skills as a journeyman machinist.
