Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detail‑oriented individual for our Machine Shop Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer in Pullman, WA . If you are looking for the opportunity to support machine shop operations within SEL, then this position is for you!

As a Machine Shop Intern, a typical day might include the following:

• Under direct supervision, setup and operate both manual and CNC machining and fabrication equipment.
• Learn and develop skills in the utilization of CAD/CAM software.
• Provide project support to current staff.
• Perform general blanking, deburring, and saw work.
• Perform general shop and equipment maintenance as directed.

This job might be for you if you:

• Are a current student pursuing a degree in Machine Tool Technology or relevant trade at an accredited institution.
• Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Are able to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment.
• Are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Have background check results satisfactory to SEL.
• Have negative drug test result(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating CNC equipment
• Experience with CAD/CAM
• Experience operating CMM

Physical Requirements:
