Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of finishing or post-machining experience in a machine shop.
• Familiarity with finishing techniques (grinding, polishing, deburring).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Knowledge of machine shop tools and equipment including grinders, sanders, polishers, and deburring machines.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in finishing.
• Familiarity with QC tools (calipers, micrometers) to verify parts.
• Good problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform finishing tasks: grinding, sanding, polishing, deburring, and buffing to achieve target surface finishes.
• Inspect materials before, during, and after finishing to ensure quality.
• Read blueprints and work orders to select appropriate finishing processes and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces for coating, painting, or plating by cleaning and decontaminating.
• Conduct quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot finishing equipment; ensure calibration.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE; maintain clean, safe work area.
• Document finished parts and any issues in records.
• Collaborate with machinists and quality inspectors for timely production.
• Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
