Job summary

A staffing agency is looking for a Machine Shop Estimator / Service Writer in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role involves inspecting equipment, sourcing parts, and preparing detailed quotes. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in the Machining Repair industry, ability to read complex drawings, and a high school diploma. The working hours are from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with potential overtime and weekends required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the Machining Repair and Service Industry.
• In-depth experience with diagnostic, troubleshooting & failure analysis processes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming equipment/parts to determine needed repairs.
• Source and price replacement parts.
• Prepare detailed quotes and estimates for customers.
• Generate Troubleshooting Analysis Report with Repair Quote.
• Report defects, rework, job delays to the Operations Manager.
• Ensure all inspection documentation is complete and accurate.
• Update Job Status Report in the ERP System regularly.
• Maintain a professional work ethic.

About the job Machine Shop Estimator / Service Writer

The hours are 7 AM - 3:30 PM, Overtime & Weekends may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect incoming equipment/parts to determine the scope of work and which parts should be repaired/replaced.
• Sourcing and pricing of replacement parts
• Preparing detailed quotes and estimates for customers along with corresponding Job Ticket for shop tasks assigned
• Generate Troubleshooting Analysis Report along with Repair Quote
• Report any defects in materials, rework, missed inspections, job delays, or problem areas to the Operations Manager, sales representatives, and customers as needed.
• Review all inspection documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate.
• Update the Job Status Report in the ERP System regularly. Communicate with others on deliverables and status of joint work.
• Maintain a professional work ethic and demonstrate courtesy and respect in all aspects of work day and routine.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in the Machining Repair and Service Industry
• Previous experience with Estimating / Service Writing
• Ability to read complex drawings and use precision measuring equipment
• ISO 9001 experience
• High School Diploma or GED
