Job description

As a Set‑Up, you will efficiently set up machinery to produce standard components to specified dimensions and characteristics, according to quality standards. You will also provide assistance or training to Operators as needed, and assist peers to minimize machine downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate 3+ required machines simultaneously to produce a diverse range of parts on short or long run work, and exacting finish specifications. Follow established procedures, verbal instructions, and information obtained from set‑up cards and layout sheets (certified process or engineered cycles) to ensure parts are manufactured per process and drawing requirements.
  • Set up standard product within a machine subgroup, replace raw material or part feeder system, enter machine parameter: speeds and feed rates, replace worn tooling and adjust machines as needed.
  • Use micrometers, verniers, optical comparator, microscope, and a variety of fixed and adjustable gauges to set‑up equipment and check work. Review calibration of all measuring equipment, patrol machines using the 4‑bin system.
  • Perform first article verification if process requires it.
  • Train new hires as assigned, and provide assistance to team members as needed to minimize operator downtime.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and correct operating difficulties, maintain required records, detect and report unusual conditions to assigned leader. Observe standard processes to make recommendations to the team leader or supervisor for improving efficiencies, safety, or morale within the work center.
  • Operate automation equipment and provide minor troubleshooting within work area as assigned.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly, observing all safety rules and regulations, and conforming to OSHA regulations.
  • Move materials, parts, and containers, as required, to complete job duties.
Job Skills and Abilities
  • Perform any assembly type functions using hand tools, mechanical equipment and/or measuring equipment.
  • Read, reference and interpret written and verbal instructions; always following established standard procedures.
  • Maintain established production levels and quality standards.
  • Recognize and report any irregularities as to fits, defective parts, finishes, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship.
  • Maintain necessary records; work is subject to audited inspections.
Education and Experience Required
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of two (2) years manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
Physical Requirements
  • Includes must be able to: stand, walk, bend, reach, grab, twist, carry, push and pull.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
