Machine Repair Mechanic - Journeyman 1st Shift

Location: Racine, WI, 53404

Job Type: FTE

Shift: 1st shift - 5 AM - 3 PM (Monday - Friday) & 5 AM - 10 AM on Saturdays

Summary

As a Journeyman Machine Repair Mechanic, you'll perform advanced mechanical breakdown and preventive maintenance (PM), including inspection, repair, and revision of complex plant machinery and manufacturing equipment. You will enhance machine utilization to ensure process repeatability and uptime, reduce changeover and set-up times, troubleshoot, repair, document breakdowns, and collaborate with management, engineering, and vendors on machinery selection, setup, and operator training. You may also lead and direct other employees.

Responsibilities
  • Perform planned, preventative maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment across the plant, including CNC mills & lathes, broaching machines, hobbers, shapers, punch presses, and parts washers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls for simple and complex machine malfunctions.
  • Fabricate replacement parts using tool room equipment when necessary.
  • Install, set up, teardown, remove, and relocate machinery as needed throughout the plant.
Qualifications
  • State Indentured Journeyman Machine Repair Person OR 5+ years of hands-on machine repair experience in a machine shop, covering hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical controls.
  • Ability to set up and operate various equipment, including tool room fabrication tools.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor for 10+ hours daily, including frequently moving 50 lbs independently.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment, with a preference for CNC (mills & lathes), grinding, and press room equipment.
