Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with CNC-related certification.
• No experience required but CNC certificate/diploma required.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow shop routers/instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate CNC grinding machines to perform various grinding operations.
• Read blueprints and shop routers to meet surface finish and tolerance requirements.
• Mount and balance grinding wheel; dress wheel as needed.
• Set up horizontal feeds and speeds; adjust part rotation, wheel speed and coolant flow.
• Select drive dogs, collets and chucks and mount parts to the proper index.
• Work safely and perform other duties as required.

Job Summary

To grind a wide variety of production aircraft parts using CNC machinery. May be required to work with higher grade Machinists while in training.

Job Responsibilities

• Setup, adjust and operate CNC grinding machines to perform a wide variety of difficult close tolerance internal and/or external single and multiple grinding operations according to general operation methods.
• Works from blueprints, shop routers, oral and written instructions to achieve high degree surface finish and tolerance requirements for grinding parts.
• Mount and balance grinding wheel.
  • Dress grinding wheel manually and automatically.
• Setup and adjust horizontal feeds, speed of part rotation, wheel speed and table travel stops.
  • Selects drive dogs, collets and chucks.
  • Mounts parts to proper index as required. Adjusts lubricating coolant flow.
• Responsible only for own work.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification AND a vocational certificate / diploma related to CNC machining.

Experience

No experience required but must possess the vocational certificate/diploma outlined in education.
