Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a production-focused operator in El Dorado, KS. The role oversees machine setup, operates equipment, reads blueprints and shop drawings, and maintains a clean work area. You will use an overhead crane and must follow strict PPE and safety policies.

Starting wage is $22.68 per hour with a 36-hour schedule paid for 40 hours. Reports to the Production Supervisor and works Fri-Sun with training hours listed.

Qualifications

• The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
• The ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of an overhead crane.
• The ability to read a tape measure.
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues in a team environment.

Shift Hours: 5:00 am - 5:30 pm

Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

36 hours worked - Paid for 40 hours

(Training Hours: 5:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Thursday)

Essential Functions

• Responsible for machine set up, including setting rollers to specified lengths, and verifying dimensions from shop drawings
• Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint data
• Maintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery
• Use overhead crane to load/unload machinery
• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors
• Other duties as required and/or assigned

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
• The ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of an overhead crane
• The ability to read a tape measure
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issuesThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
• The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
• High awareness for safety at all times
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility
• Read blueprints and specifications
• Maintain a safe and productive working environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• One (1) year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment
• One (1) year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
• Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
