Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is hiring for a General Labor role on the 2nd shift (4:00 pm - 2:30 pm, M-F) in El Dorado, AR. The role involves operating cranes, forklifts, and simple machinery, plus routine maintenance and safety responsibilities.

Starting wage is $20.75/hr with a $1.50/hr shift differential. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and prior manufacturing experience is a plus. The position emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Six (6) months of manufacturing/fabrication experience preferred.
• One (1) year experience with hand and/or power tools desired.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematics.
• Strong teamwork and safety awareness are essential.
• Willingness to complete forklift and scissor-lift certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment and perform general tasks on the production floor.

• Run routine machine operations and feed/unload machines.

2nd Shift (4:00 pm - 2:30 pm; M-F)

The General Labor is an Individual Contributor responsible for performing various non-technical tasks throughout the plant including operation of cranes, forklifts or simple machinery.

Essential Functions:

• Assist other workers by performing specific or general duties, usually of lesser skill
• Keep other workers supplied with material, tools and supplies
• Perform routing machine operations such as feeding or unloading machines
• Setup and operate a variety of grinding machines
• Perform operator inspections on crane and forklift
• Other duties as required and/or assigned

Important Details about the Role

• Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment
• Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment
• Actively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
• This position reports to the Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• The ability to run a floor sweeper
• The ability to calculate simple mathematics
• The ability to read a tape measure
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
• The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
• The ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 20 pounds
• The ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of a forklift and scissor lift
• High awareness for safety at all times
• Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility
• Maintain a safe and productive working environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Six (6) months previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• One (1) year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
• The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
• Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Working Conditions & Physical Efforts:

Work is primarily performed in an indoor shop environment. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, smoke, and confined spaces. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.The job requires safety glasses, hearing protection, and metatarsal safety shoes be worn at all times. The employee must be able to spend the entire work shift on their feet within the shop environment. The incumbent must also be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) for working in the production facility.

Hazards:

This job requires handling metal objects, some of which have sharp edges. Extreme care and awareness should be taken for all production jobs. Below are some common hazards that exist for this particular position. Set up and run of equipment provides the potential for injury through slips, falls, strains, pinch points, tripping hazards, shot blasting equipment, high pressure air nozzles, material handling equipment.
