Job summary

GE Aerospace in Greenville is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to manufacture complex engine components from exotic aerospace alloys using CNC and manual machines in a clean, air-conditioned facility.

You will read drawings, set ups, perform tool changes, gauge parts, and apply Lean techniques to improve quality and throughput. Weekend night shift included; pre-employment screens apply.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of full‑time manufacturing experience with manual or CNC machining (milling, turning, lasering, or grinding).
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a manufacturing or engineering discipline or graduation from a recognized machinist or toolmaker apprenticeship or certification program.
  • Willingness to work weekend shift.
  • Must successfully complete pre‑employment physical/drug screen and ongoing random drug screens.

Job Summary

The Greenville Machine Operator is a skilled role that involves the manufacturing of complex engine components, working with exotic aerospace alloys on some of the latest CNC machine tools in a clean, air-conditioned facility. Successful candidates will participate in a self‑directed team environment to identify and implement process improvement opportunities resulting in improved quality and product flow.

Responsibilities
  • Perform set‑ups, tool changes, offsets, and run production on various CNC and non‑CNC machines.
  • Read and understand process operation sheets, tooling sheets, technical plans and associated documents.
  • Work from blueprints and work instructions to produce parts.
  • Correctly gauge parts and record dimensions.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to reduce setup times and improve quality and throughput utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Perform precision work to exacting tolerances.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of full‑time manufacturing experience with manual or Computer Numerical Controlled machining using milling, turning, lasering, or grinding processes.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a manufacturing or engineering discipline (e.g., Computer Integrated Machining or Engineering Technology) or graduation from a recognized machinist or toolmaker apprenticeship or certification program.
  • Willingness to work weekend shift.
  • Must successfully complete pre‑employment physical/drug screen and ongoing random drug screens.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work from layouts and dimensions on drawings and read manual gauges.
  • Ability to load, align, and set up machine per drawing instructions and maintain quality production records.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of machining methods and cutting tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop math.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, hats, and safety shoes).
Working Conditions

Shift: Weekend night shift 7:00p.m.–7:12a.m. This role may encounter high‑risk or hazardous operations, work with chemicals, and may include shifts beyond a standard workweek. Minimum age is 18 years. Access to U.S. export‑controlled information is required; candidates must be a U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, or have asylee or refugee status.
