Job summary

Pure Flavor is seeking a Machine Operator – Team Lead to supervise the box-making operations in our Edinburg facility. You will lead a team of box makers, schedule work, and ensure product quality while adhering to GMP and safety standards.

The role requires hands-on machine operation, training of new hires, and backup coverage on repack lines as needed. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMP, health and safety, HACCP is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Steel-toe shoes or boots required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee box-making production, schedule tool changes, and manage daily demand.
  • Lead the Box Makers team, assign tasks, monitor quality and efficiency.
  • Train new hires on box machinery, tools, SOPs, and safety protocols.
  • Serve as backup operator and run repack lines when needed.
  • Ensure proper box erection, trimming, and packing to meet quotas.
  • Maintain clean work area and perform pre/post-operational checks.
  • Coordinate with operators and supervisors to maximize uptime and traceability.

TheMachine Operator – Team Lead is responsible for overseeing entire production machine operations. The key responsibility of this role is to be in-charge of the Box Making area, lead the team of Box machine operators and maintain efficiencies while complying with OHS and FS standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify daily box demand by taking box inventory, reviewing production schedules from the production board and schedule the tool changeovers accordingly
  • Lead the team of Box Makers, assign box making tasks providing job details to every team member daily and monitor their work for quality and correctness
  • Determine box makers weekly work schedule and make recommendations to the supervisors
  • Train new hires on the box machine making them familiar with all types of boxes and their tooling’s, tool changeovers SOPs, machine set ups and trouble shooting to make them independent and well-trained box makers
  • This role is also responsible to work as a backup machine operator and run the repack lines as a Line Lead is necessary.
  • Erect boxes necessary to meet production needs, by hand as necessary
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of boxes to ensure that it is of the required standard
  • Anticipate the quantities of trays needed for daily packing needs and meets production quotas
  • Communicate all variances in packaging or quality concerns to personnel with authority
  • Maintain and clean machines and work area
  • Perform daily pre-operational and post-operational checks and document
  • Comply with SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Food Safety, Health and Safety and all company policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinate with line machine operators on a day-to-day basis making sure that all machines are fully operational and work as a backup machine operator and run the line when needed
  • Direct workers tasks: instruct in the correct grading, sorting, and packing requirements to ensure company standards are consistently met with the focus of maximizing quality and productivity; support and provide guidance when necessary
  • Administrative tasks associated with updating complete jobs and ensure traceability protocols are being followed
  • Communicate and address variances, quality issues and concerns with Production Supervisor; help identify the causes and implement sustainable corrective action
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company

Qualifications:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent (required); post-secondary education (preferred)
  • Minimum one (1) year related experience (required)
  • This role is expected to be fully trained and independent machine operator of all repack lines at LEA DC with at least a 6 months of machine operator experience on the production floor
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, and HACCP
  • Mechanical aptitude; computer skills; basic mathematical skills required
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively; written and verbal
  • Steel-toe shoes or boots are required
  • Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; Flexibility required
  • This job operates in a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation.
  • Role frequently requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging, and reach with hands and arms
  • The position requires the ability to regularly lift up to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds
