Machine Operator - Turning East O/B - 3rd shift

The CNC operator handles the computer numerical control machine (lathes, grinders, heat-treat). Maintaining, setting, and adjusting the machine are all part of the operator's daily tasks. This includes knowledge of the software and hardware of the machine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all Safety, Quality, fabrication rules, and equipment maintenance requirements as documented in the company’s quality system.
- Operate computer numerical control machines (“CNC”) (lathes, grinders, turning, and heat treat equipment) for metal component parts.
- Monitor equipment functions.
- Maintain all oil and coolant levels, clean out chips from all lathes, empty chip hoppers and scrap, complete recuts and repairs.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Recognize the negative impacts of not following documented standards.
- Inspect products received to line and before it leaves their process.
- Assist in training new operators once job-specific training is verified.
- Report safety, quality, or machine operation issues to management and technical support.
- Ensure the machine produces high-quality products, runs smoothly and at capacity, and is properly maintained.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum six months experience operating a CNC lathe and/or machining center responsible for loading parts, inspecting parts, changing offsets, and tooling.
- Basic understanding of NC Turn process.
- Ability to read and interpret part drawings and make decisions regarding part quality and offset changes.
- Experience with Okuma or FANUC equipment types and controls is strongly preferred.
- Experience using measuring tools such as drop indicators, dial bore gauges, plug gauges, and calipers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple production lines.
- Willingness to perform light preventative maintenance on equipment during the shift.
