Job summary

Greif, Inc. is hiring a Machine Operator for the third shift to prepare equipment, set up machines, and pack finished goods. You will read work orders, measure and verify dimensions, perform quality checks, and ensure safe, efficient operation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare festoons, jigs, and saws and adjust for each work order using hand tools.
• Work overtime as required.
• Adhere to quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Read and interpret work orders for machine setup requirements.
• Perform periodic quality checks to ensure specifications and COAs.
• Build pallets to customer specs and manually pack finished product for shipment.
• Interact with Seltrol system and set up overwrap orders.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area; follow safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare festoons, jigs, and saws and make adjustments as necessary for each work order using hand tools.
• Dependable and ability to work overtime as required.
• Adhere to specific quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Ability to read various measurement equipment including tape measures, calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders to understand machine setup requirements.
• Perform periodic quality checks to ensure compliance to specifications and/or COAs.
• Will build pallets to customer specs to pack out finished product.
• Manually pack finished product onto pallets for shipment.
• Knowledge of machine including parts and function.
• Interact with Seltrol system.
• Set up and troubleshoot overwrap orders.
• Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area.
• Follow safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills

• Follow directions and work well in a team.
• Competency in machine set-up.
• Ability to communicate expectation with crew.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Stooping, bending, and moving about plant for up to 8 hours per day.
• Ability to read tape measure, calipers and other measuring tools.

Compensation Range

Compensation Range: The pay range for this position is $19.23 - $30.77 annually. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $19.23 and $30.77. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. If the competitive wage is equal in both fields, the starting rate is the same for all applicants that apply for this role. The starting rate is not representative of future compensation increases. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
