Job summary

TURBOCAM Inc. is seeking a CNC setup and operating professional to join our manufacturing team on-site. You will set up and operate lathe, mill, and balance machines, perform routine maintenance, and ensure quality per engineering specs.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and some experience with CNC equipment, measuring tools, and MS Office. This role requires attention to detail, good math skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
  • Experience running CNC machines (lathe, mill, balance) helpful.
  • Basic MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel familiarity desired.
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate lathe, mill, and/or balance CNC machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on machinery.
  • Report deviations in machine performance to supervisors and maintenance staff.
  • Advise on tools and tooling needed for turning projects.
  • Maintain fixtures and set-ups for specified projects.
  • Keep work areas clean and safe; monitor hopper, filters, belts, and conveyors.
  • Inspect and document operations per quality procedures and engineering specs.

Job description

Join a team of professionals where you will be responsible for setting up, utilizing, and operating assigned lathe, mill, and/or balance CNC machines and supporting machine procedures for the prototyping and production of machined parts. Starting pay is $21.00/hour!

  • Perform set-up and operation of assigned lathe, mill and/or balance machine/s.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on the lathe, mill and/or balance machines as needed and required.
  • Report all deviations in proper machine performance to direct supervisor, other shop supervisor, and/or Machine Maintenance personnel (when warranted).
  • Advise and consult with direct supervisor, and/or shop supervisor as applicable, for tools and tooling needed to complete turning projects.
  • Maintain fixtures and set-ups for use in specified projects as assigned when applicable.
  • Support and maintain overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe. Check hoppers, filters, bags and machines daily; wiping down outside, washing down inside, cleaning conveyor belts and other areas as needed.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with other personnel for usage of shared shop equipment.
  • Inspect and document all operations per TAPS procedures as stated in the Quality Manual as well as per specifications of the product engineer, project manager, and direct supervisor.
  • Obtain familiarity with robotic safety and basic operations.
  • Report all hazards or incidents to direct supervisor.
  • Supplemental Responsibilities for 1st Shift Mill Machine Operators
    • Follow proper procedure when cleaning and maintaining chip hopper system and work area - including filtration system and drip pan clean out.
    • Manage the daily rotation and handling of chip barrels and removal in a timely manner.
    • Maintain order and cleanliness of waste disposal, Chip barrels and machine fluid area - Ensuring the correct fluid, tote and barrels is store and mark properly.
    • Maintain machine fluid level - Spindle lube, Axis Oil, Hydraulic, Grease and Chiller Fluid - empty waste fluid as needed.
    • Monitor inventory level of shop supply and report to Supervisor when items are low and need to be replenish.
  • Performing other duties as necessary.
Bring Your Expertise
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience running CNC machines (lathe, mill and balance) helpful.
  • Basic understanding of MS Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel desired.
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment helpful.
  • Good math skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Requires occasional lifting and carrying of 25 lbs. or more and standing for extended periods of time.
