Job description

Motor Wheel Chattanooga is seeking candidates with heavy industrial experience. Foundry experience is preferred, but not required. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Follow work instructions and take direction from the foundry lead person to determine work processes.
• Weigh specified amounts of materials as needed by each project module.
• Operate and calibrate machinery to make it process-ready.
• Use various hand tools.
• Ensure that ventilation procedures are followed throughout the process.
• Install and remove steel jackets and bands used for holding snap molds together.
• Sort castings into pairs, and pull reinforcing wires from castings.
• Remove castings from molds and place them on setting rings.
• Perform preventative and regular maintenance on job-specified equipment.
• Ensure that all work areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
• Set bands as a band setter.
• Clean and maintain chucks as a chuck cleaner.
• Operate as a fork lift operator: move castings, weigh castings, hang on casting chain.
• Repair and maintain runner boxes, assist in changeovers.
• Slag boxes, maintain intermediate ladle as a labor/slagger.
• Measure castings, inspect castings, remove splattered iron, operate HP grinder, and handle castings as a blast operator/inspector stacker/rework.
• Drive a forklift, locate products, and move materials as a fork truck operator.
• Monitor, log, and record processes.
• Assist in changeovers and operate industrial-powered equipment.
• Cross-train other employees as required.

Physical requirements include moderate to heavy effort such as lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs with assistance, prolonged standing/walking, manual dexterity, and mobility. The role involves exposure to extreme heat, temperature changes, noise, and hazards.

A successful candidate will be required to obtain industrial powered equipment certification, such as for a forklift.
