Motor Wheel Chattanooga Job Description

Motor Wheel Chattanooga is seeking candidates with heavy industrial experience. Foundry experience is preferred but not required. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

1. Follow work instructions and take direction from the foundry lead person to determine work processes.
2. Weigh specified amounts of materials as needed by each project module.
3. Operate and calibrate machinery to make it process-ready.
4. Use various hand tools.
5. Ensure that ventilation procedures are followed throughout the process.
6. Install and remove steel jackets and bands used for holding snap molds together.
7. Sort castings into pairs, and pull reinforcing wires from castings.
8. Remove castings from molds and place them on setting rings.
9. Perform preventative and regular maintenance on job-specified equipment.
10. Ensure that all work areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
11. Set bands as a band setter.
12. Clean and maintain chucks as a chuck cleaner.
13. Operate as a fork out, including moving castings, weighing, and hanging on casting chains.
14. Repair and maintain runner boxes, and assist in changeovers.
15. Perform slagging, maintain intermediate ladles, and measure castings as a labor/slagger.
16. Operate as a blast operator, inspector, stacker, or rework, including measuring, inspecting, cleaning, grinding, and tagging castings.
17. Drive a fork truck to locate and move materials and equipment.
18. Monitor, log, and record processes.
19. Assist in changeovers and operate industrial-powered equipment.
20. Cross-train other employees as required.

Physical and environmental requirements include:

• Moderate to heavy physical effort, including lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs with assistance.
• Prolonged standing, walking, and manual dexterity.
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
• Visual acuity at various distances and peripheral vision.
• Ability to adjust vision (accommodation).
• Exposure to extreme heat, temperature changes, noise, and hazards.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain industrial powered equipment certification (e.g., forklift).
