Job Description

The operator of the Punch and Pack process will operate the system under the direction of the Punch and Pack Specialist III. This automated system punches and packages sandpaper discs. The operator will support the Punch and Pack Specialist III with changeovers, loading materials, quality checks, and managing the process flow of the system. Additionally, the Punch and Pack Operator will be responsible for running the packaging portion of the machine. As an operator, maintaining a positive work environment by following safety procedures is essential. The position also requires cross-training and stepping in as the Specialist III during absences.

Additional Information:

• Assist in loading rolls of sandpaper onto the machine as needed
• Operate pin lift, pallet lift, and hoist
• Assist in setting up and starting the machine successfully
• Make adjustments to the machine as needed
• Troubleshoot machine issues and assist with repairs according to escalation plan
• Follow standard operating procedures for the machine
• Adhere to quality standards and measures
• Follow procedures for machine cleanliness and tool organization (5S)
• Maintain knowledge of all safety procedures related to the machine
• The machine has a feeding system with clamp beams working on an idle conveyor, which is motorized. Clamp beams are positioned before and after the cutting head.
• The touch screen allows setting material width between cuts to minimize waste. A recipe menu lets operators save machine setup data for different configurations, enabling quick recall for new setups.
