Northland: Position: Machine Operator - Food Industry

Department: Production

Starting at: $19 - $21/hour

Shift: 3rd Shift (10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.), weekends as needed

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio 45246

Role Overview

As a Food Production Machine Operator, you'll set up, operate, and maintain machinery to ensure high-quality production. Your role is vital in maintaining efficiency, quality, and safety standards, contributing to our daily production goals.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate and maintain packaging and process equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and cost targets.
  2. Maintain safety standards and good manufacturing practices, including cleaning machinery per SSOPs.
  3. Monitor product and packaging quality, conduct tests, and record results, including metal detector CCP in accordance with HACCP.
  4. Operate and adjust equipment for optimal performance, collaborating across shifts for smooth operations.
  5. Use automated equipment, including touchscreens and sensors, to maintain product specifications.
  6. Maintain inventory traceability, manage materials, and load/unload machines.
  7. Troubleshoot issues, clean, and maintain equipment and workspace, collaborating with support teams.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to interpret industry, production, and technical documents in English.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of production procedures and equipment.
  • Commitment to safety standards.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills within a team.
  • Experience in fast-paced, quality-focused environments.
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Basic math skills; availability for weekends and holidays.
  • Prior experience with equipment operation.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical skills and 1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Food manufacturing experience is a plus; 2 years preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicate effectively and perform repetitive motions.
  • Work in various climates and environments within the facility.
  • Operate in environments with flashing lights, horns, and moving equipment.
  • Stand, walk, squat, and perform tasks for extended periods.
  • Ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and scaffolding as needed.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and physical agility.
  • Maintain GMPs and wear PPE as required.
