Sign-On and Referral Bonus
- Sign-On Bonus: $1,000, paid in two installments of $500 each—one after 90 days and another at 180 days from your start date.
- Referral Bonus: $500 bonus to the referring employee once the new hire completes 90 days.
Schedule and Shift
- Hourly Production team operates on a 12-hour rotating schedule. This position is for the Night Shift, 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM.
- Shift Rotation: 2-2-3 pattern with two weeks repeating.
Week 1: Monday – Work; Tuesday – Work; Wednesday – Off; Thursday – Off; Friday – Work; Saturday – Work; Sunday – Work.
Week 2: Monday – Off; Tuesday – Off; Wednesday – Work; Thursday – Work; Friday – Off; Saturday – Off; Sunday – Off. The two-week rotation then repeats.
Job Summary
This posting covers three potential Machine Operator positions—Tetrapak, Volpak, or Ixapak—that may be available at the time of application. The specific position cannot be guaranteed. As a Machine Operator at Materne, North America in Traverse City, MI, you will operate machinery on high-speed production and food processing lines.
Compensation
$24.62 – $26.85 per hour.
Position Responsibilities
Tetra Pak
- Operate Tetra Pak machine – mixing of materials and products
- Load ingredients into Tetra Pak machine according to Materne’s specifications
- Work with computer interface to monitor equipment
- Read schematics and diagrams to monitor machine activity (flow, machine status, temperature settings, level indication)
- Test pH, viscosity, brix, and flavor additives using quality devices
- Break down machinery with hand tools to clean and sanitize
- Receive/inspect materials and accept or reject per specifications
- Observe materials to identify contamination or foreign materials
- Detect equipment problems and troubleshoot
- Operate industrial carts and power hand carts
- Inspect product as it moves through the manufacturing process for quality
- Complete paperwork and document downtime
Volpak
- Operate high-speed manufacturing equipment via touchscreen/HMI
- Read schematics and diagrams to monitor machine activity
- Inspect product for quality during the process
- Conduct sample testing and record data
- Operate industrial carts, power hand carts
- Perform troubleshooting and basic maintenance
- Clean work area and sanitize equipment
- Complete daily paperwork and reports
Ixapak
- Operate Ixapak machine in a high-speed environment
- Work with computer interface to monitor and start/stop equipment; reset robotic arm positions after line shutdown
- Load materials into Ixapak machine
- Set machine to adjust number of pouches for different packaging sizes
- Understand mechanical operation to adjust and manipulate Ixapak machine
- Break down machinery with hand tools to clean and sanitize
- Observe materials to identify contamination or foreign materials
- Inspect pouches for uniformity and quality
- Detect equipment problems and troubleshoot
- Document tracking sheets for machine efficiency and downtime
- Operate industrial carts, power hand carts
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for an entire shift (12+ hours) and lift up to 40 lbs.
Education
High School diploma or GED preferred; Technical/Trade School preferred.
Experience
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in the food industry is a plus.
