Job summary

Nucor is seeking a Machine Operator on the production line. The role includes startup/shutdown, operating multiple machining processes, and reporting issues to maintenance.

After training, the role shifts to night shift, with safety and efficiency emphasized throughout daily tasks. Applicants should have basic machine knowledge and Excel skills, and be prepared to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup and shutdown procedures for the assigned production line area.
• Carry out milling, turning, drilling, tapping, deburring, molding and related bench operations and inspect them.
• Report malfunctions or abnormalities to maintenance.
• Complete reports and answer questions as assigned.
• Record all material usage and reconcile at end of shift.
• Maintain cleanliness of the production line area.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Functions:

Responsibilities for the Machine Operator include but are not limited to:

• Perform the startup and shutdown procedures for the assigned production line area. Perform changeovers quickly, efficiently and safely
• Perform all of the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, taping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations, as well as the inspection of them
• Report any malfunctions or abnormalities with equipment to the maintenance team
• Complete reports and answer questions, as requested or assigned
• Accurately record all material usage and reconcile that usage at the end of each shift
• Maintain cleanliness of the assigned production line area
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Perform all other duties, as assigned

* This role requires a transition to night-shift once the initial training period on day-shift ends. The length of the training period is undetermined and at the company's discretion. *

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent attendance and safety record
• Knowledge of basic machine functions
• Knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year experience in a production environment
• Understanding of machine setup and tear down
• Overhead crane experience
• Basic understanding of automationMachine and process troubleshooting
