  • Keep work area clean and compliant with 5S standards.
  • Complete production logs and communicate with supervisors and maintenance.

Job description

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating production machinery, monitoring equipment performance, inspecting parts, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations. This role ensures products are produced to specification while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
  • Operate assigned machines and equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Start, stop, and monitor machine performance throughout the shift.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments to maintain proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and notify maintenance when needed.
Quality & Inspection
  • Inspect parts using measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Verify product quality against specifications and document results.
  • Identify defects or irregularities and remove non‑conforming parts from production.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Load raw materials into machines and remove finished parts.
  • Move materials and products using pallet jacks, carts, or forklifts (if certified).
  • Maintain proper inventory of materials at the workstation.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents immediately.
  • Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Communication
  • Complete production logs, downtime reports, and quality checklists.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, and other operators.
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing or machine operation.

  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Working Conditions
