Job Description

Responsible for the safe and quality operation of equipment and machinery in the Packaging Department, including palletizers, strapping machines, box machines, tumble packers, wrapping machines, unscramblers, and overall product flow. This role involves performing short-cycle, repetitive, and control functions to achieve high-quality production that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions
  • Adhere to all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain production goals through proper machine operation and accurate record-keeping.
  • Practice safe start-up and shutdown procedures for each machine.
  • Perform minor adjustments to machinery to ensure smooth operation.
  • Stop machines or production to communicate issues or breakdowns.
  • Inspect products for quality defects and stop production if necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good manufacturing practices.
  • Load knockdown boxes into magazines and understand case packer functions.
  • Troubleshoot downstream equipment and communicate changes in production schedule.
  • Hand pack containers into cartons as needed.
  • Follow safety guidelines, use PPE, and report hazards.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisors.
Authorization
  • Authorized personnel can shut down equipment if safety is at risk.
  • Recommend stopping production for quality issues.
  • Quarantine out-of-spec products and materials.
  • Report concerns to management without fear of reprisal.
Job Specifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of steady employment; manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Physical capacity for medium-demand work, including lifting up to 100 pounds, standing/walking for long hours, and various physical movements.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use of safety equipment and awareness of environmental hazards.
Training Requirements
  • New Hire Orientation, Monthly Training, SAP, GMP, HACCP, and other safety and operational trainings as specified.
