Job summary

Amcor LLC in Matthews, NC seeks an on-site production operator to keep the packaging line running smoothly and safely. You will work with Helpers, Lead Operators and Shift Supervisors, as well as Quality Technicians, to ensure production meets customer expectations.

You will perform line adjustments, operate tools, follow safety procedures, complete paperwork, and troubleshoot equipment while adhering to company policies and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand work orders or instructions.
• Ability to navigate computer programs and enter data accurately.
• Mathematical skills including rate, ratio and percent calculations.
• Reasoning skills to solve practical problems with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety, quality and attendance policies.
• Maintain operation of designated production line and keep it running smoothly.
• Make adjustments to the machine as required for orders or to troubleshoot issues.
• Perform operator paperwork and input key information into the computer system.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure on-time production.

Job Summary

Work closely with the Helpers, Lead Operators and the Shift Supervisors. Work closely with the Quality Control Technicians to ensure that production processes meet our customer's expectations. The operator’s main responsibility is to keep the line running acceptable quality product.

Essential Functions

Follow all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Perform duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to management. Act as a role model for Safety on the shift. Participate in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enter Near Miss data and Observations into Global Data Center database (GDC) Maintain operation of designated line Ability to take ownership of the line when it is down and be responsible for getting the line back up and running under normal running conditions Responsible for housekeeping that is due for completion by the end of the shift Ability to do all operator paperwork, key information into the computer system, and be responsible for all products run on the line Ability to understand the process and operation of the equipment Perform adjustments to machine as required for orders or to troubleshoot issues Ability to troubleshoot problems on all parts of the line to manufacture quality products that meet order specifications Other tasks as assigned by Management, Supervisor or Lead

Education / Skills / Experience

Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments Ability to calibrate machines and understand different systems Ability to wear all required PPE (steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other PPE as required) Ability to lift up to 65lbs Ability to read and understand work orders Knowledge in navigating different computer programs Ability to communicate with other employees Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, simple checklists, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and in small group situations. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration and percent. Reasoning skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
