The Machine Operator is responsible for the overall quality and efficiency of the machine and indirectly leads machine crews. The primary goal is to ensure the safe operation of a coffee packaging machine. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Principal Job Duties:

1. Operate production equipment safely and efficiently to meet production and waste goals.
2. Complete all required documents and checklists related to equipment operation; report malfunctions to supervisor and maintenance.
3. Interpret work orders and instructions to ensure proper materials and specifications are followed.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operation difficulties.
5. Ensure coffee has adequate time to gas-off.
6. Complete changeover sheets, notify line support for change-overs, and request necessary materials.
7. Use computer systems to manage coffee bins and print item labels based on manufacturing specifications.
8. Program packaging machines for specific items, adjusting settings as needed.
9. Adjust packaging equipment for appropriate case sizes and coffee amounts without stopping production.
10. Manage packaging processes, including closing, labeling, and taping boxes.
11. Perform visual, weight, and seal inspections during operation and segregate nonconforming goods.
12. Move and stack boxes onto pallets, completing tickets with relevant information.
13. Record downtime and submit maintenance work requests when necessary.
14. Clean machines and work areas to prevent dust accumulation.
15. Verify correct bags on the packaging line and collect samples for quality assurance.
16. Follow all safety protocols, wear PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
17. Perform additional duties as assigned.
