Ellwood City Forge Group is seeking a reliable machine operator to load/unload, set up, and operate saws and finishing equipment in a manufacturing setting. You will follow safety protocols, maintain documentation, and contribute to ISO 9001 quality processes.

The role offers a 4 on/4 off schedule, competitive pay, and strong benefits. Candidates should have a high school diploma and experience with machine operation; lifting heavy materials is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in machine operation (saws, shot blast, milling, robotic edge prep) preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow safety protocols.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload machines with an overhead crane and remove scale as needed.
• Set up machines based on supervisor instructions.
• Operate saws with appropriate feeds/speeds and change blades when required.
• Ensure proper coolant flow and replace coolant as needed.
• Set up tooling and operate test equipment as required.
• Verify material IDs and tag accordingly.
• Maintain clean work environment and follow ISO quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload machines with the help of an overhead crane, positioning materials as needed, and manually removing scale when required.
• Set up machines based on instructions and information provided by the supervisor.
• Operate saws, selecting appropriate feeds and speeds, and change saw blades when necessary.
• Ensure proper coolant flow and replace coolant as needed.
• Set up, select tooling, and operate test equipment as required.
• Verify material identification by stamping or marking with necessary numbers.
• Dispose of saw crop ends in scrap boxes according to grade.
• Move materials to the next operational area and attach the correct color tag.
• Complete daily paperwork, time slips, production reports, and computer input.
• Deburr sawed edges using a hand grinder.
• Grind radii for heat treating as required.
• Restamp IDs after shot blasting.
• Follow instructions from the production supervisor or Syteline/Symphony lists.
• Maintain a clean work environment as required.
• Remove and reattach ID/color tags before and after shot blasting.
• Use hand grinders (electric or air-operated) to remove defects or scale from materials.
• Perform work in compliance with ECFG's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Assist with maintenance or production tasks as needed.
• Report defective materials or faulty equipment to the supervisor immediately.
• When required, conduct testing in compliance with ISO 17025, NADCAP, or other standards, acting as part of the Quality team and free from external pressures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in machine operation (Saws, Shot Blast, Milling, Rough Turn, Robotic Edge Prep) is preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow safety protocols.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.
