Apogee Architectural Metals, a segment of Apogee Enterprises, Inc., seeks a diligent Machine Operator I to set up and run simple production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will follow established procedures, read work orders, and contribute to meeting product specifications.

Qualifications

  • Essential Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read measuring devices (tape measures).
  • Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level, etc.).
  • Ability to follow blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).

Responsibilities

  • Basic operation of simple machinery and equipment, such as presses, lathes, or cutters.
  • Follow standardized procedures for setting up and operating machines.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating machines.
  • Familiarity with reading simple work orders or production instructions.
  • Producing and ensuring product meets or exceeds established product specifications.
  • Attention to detail to ensure machine operation is accurate and products meet basic quality standards.
  • Basic problem-solving ability to identify and report machine malfunctions.
  • Must be cross-trained and able to support all Operator I roles.

Job Overview Machine Operator I sets up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines. Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete simple tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
