Job Description

The Machine Operator is responsible for the overall quality and efficiency of the machine and is indirectly responsible for leading machine crews. The primary goal is to ensure the safe operation of a coffee packaging machine. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Operate production equipment safely and efficiently to meet production and waste goals.
  • Complete all required documents and checklists related to equipment operation, report malfunctions to supervisor and maintenance.
  • Interpret work orders and instructions to ensure proper materials and specifications are followed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operation difficulties.
  • Ensure coffee has adequate time to gas-off.
  • Complete change-over sheets, notify line support for change-overs, and request necessary materials.
  • Use computer systems to manage coffee bin operations, print labels, and program packaging machines based on specifications.
  • Adjust packaging equipment for case size and coffee amount without stopping production.
  • Manage packaging process, including boxing, labeling, and taping.
  • Perform visual, weight, and seal inspections on packages.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming goods.
  • Move and stack boxes onto pallets, complete pallet tickets.
  • Record downtime and submit maintenance requests as needed.
  • Clean machines and work areas regularly.
  • Conduct checks and submit samples for quality assurance.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear PPE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
